I missed that.”Īt this same time, serendipitously, Infinity Ward studio director Dave Stohl reconnected with Emslie at a work function. I missed that setting, I missed that genre, I missed that type of gameplay, that immersive environment, because it looks real to me.

I guess for me, I saw Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and I started having these thoughts in my head.

“The industry’s kind of moved that way there’s a lot of that going on. “I remember a point in time when I was just getting exhausted by all the wall-running and jetpacks and the palette and that stuff,” Emslie says. It began with former art lead Joel Emslie, who served as art lead on Titanfall and Titanfall 2, and continued with former designer Geoff Smith, lead animator Mark Grigsby, and a few others.Įmslie’s motivation was driven by his love for Counter-Strike, which made him want to come back to more grounded combat. However, over the last couple of years, an interesting trend has emerged: Several of those departing members are back at Infinity Ward. Several key members of the Infinity Ward team that worked on games like Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 followed Zampella and West to Respawn, leaving a vastly different team to work on Modern Warfare 3 and subsequent titles. The two went on to form Respawn Entertainment and created the Titanfall series.

The Xbox Series S is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2020.Following a dispute with Activision over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 royalties, Infinity Ward co-founders and figureheads Vince Zampella and Jason West were unceremoniously removed from the studio. While this may be new territory with consoles, developers have the skills to make their games happen on this newly announced console. Others commented, saying that lower end PCs don't disrupt developers who make games for that platform. Since the Xbox Series S supports the same GPU features, it will be able to run the same games as the Xbox Series X but with a lower resolution quality and less memory bandwidth. While the Infinity Ward dev with these concerns, many others have said that the different specs won't be as much of a problem as some are making it out to be. The difference in the GPU Power between the consoles is 8.15 TFLOPS, with the Xbox Series S being on the weaker end of this spectrum. The most striking differences between the two systems that many developers have taken notice of are the CPU clock speed, which is 3.4GHz compared to the Xbox Series X speed of 3.6GHz, and the GPU Power.

Microsoft released the specs for this recently announced console, comparing it to the already expected Xbox Series X. He points out the less expensive console's lower specs, and said that this would cause a "bottleneck" in the game development world, creating more issues that devs would need to work around. RELATED: Xbox Series S Has Master Chief Easter Eggĭavid Mickner, a multiplayer designer at Infinity Ward, posted to Twitter that, while Xbox Game Pass and the price tag of the Xbox Series S are a great value for gamers, he sees some issues for developers. This new console will allow some fans who may not be able to afford the full Xbox Series X to play games with the new next-gen features. While Sony has not revealed as much about the PS5 as some fans have hoped to see by this point, Microsoft has been much more forthcoming with information about their next-gen consoles and have recently revealed the Xbox Series S to the gaming community. However, the cheaper Xbox Series S may create setbacks going forward for developers who are creating games for both of these consoles. With this in mind, Microsoft is giving fans the chance to experience some of the special features of the Xbox Series X with a less expensive price tag. Many gaming fans are looking forward to the next-gen console releases that will be happening this holiday season.
